CoastKey’s modular platform gives boat builders the flexibility to offer the right level of functionality for every model. The BASIC system provides secure, keyless engine starting without the need for traditional keys, key fobs, or proximity sensors. Operators simply enter a personalized PIN code on the Start Panel to unlock the system, enable the ignition, and start the engine using a modern, intuitive interface.
Adding one of CoastKey’s wireless FOBs significantly expands the system’s capabilities. In addition to enabling convenient remote engine start and stop, the FOB functions as a wireless Engine Cut-Off Switch (ECOS), automatically shutting down the engine if the operator falls overboard.
Our 5-button FOB further expands the system’s capabilities with dedicated buttons for controlling additional onboard functions. These buttons can be configured to operate a wide range of accessories, including the remote-controlled features highlighted in the “Examples of Custom Adaptation” section below.
This modular approach allows CoastKey to scale from a simple, keyless ignition solution to a fully integrated wireless control platform – while maintaining a consistent user experience and a clean, modern helm design.
Simple installation
CoastKey systems are engineered for fast, safe, and efficient installation. For most leading engine manufacturers, we offer dedicated plug-and-play harnesses that integrate directly with the existing engine wiring—eliminating the need to cut, splice, or modify the original harness.
Every CoastKey kit is supplied with application-specific wiring and connectors, enabling fast, clean, and reliable installation. The same engineering approach applies to our remote-control solutions. Whether integrating battery switches, engine trim, bow thrusters, anchor windlasses, or other onboard electrical systems, we can develop custom wiring and connection solutions that simplify installation, reduce labor time, and deliver seamless integration.
The result is a clean, reliable installation that minimizes labor time, preserves the integrity of the OEM wiring, and supports efficient, consistent production.
Examples of custom adaptation
CoastKey is more than a keyless ignition system—it is a flexible wireless control platform that can be tailored to the unique requirements of each boat builder. In addition to keyless engine start/stop and wireless Engine Cut-Off Switch (ECOS) functionality, our FOBs can be configured to control a wide range of onboard systems. One of the most popular applications is the wireless operation of remote battery switches, allowing users to turn batteries on or off with the touch of a button.
Beyond remote control of battery switches, CoastKey can also be integrated to provide wireless control of engine trim, bow and stern thrusters, anchor windlasses, and other onboard systems. We also work closely with boat builders to develop solutions for boarding ramps, electric gangways, swim platforms, power Bimini tops, and other specialized equipment.
